Of course, then you can collect stats and tell the optimizer there are only 7 days within a week. Wouldn't it be nice to collect stats on view columns....

You're talking about that beautiful astronomical calculation of day_of_calender? Must have been a trainee ;-)

Or do you still remember that nice quarter_of_year bug:

     Q = month_of_year / 4 + 1
     Q1: 1,2,3
     Q2: 4,5,6,7
     Q3: 8,9,10,11
     Q4: 12
