Thanks for the reply - it is indeed a multi-faceted topic, and as you surmise we have been grappling with issues in our own way, with help from vendor reps and others.

We have been investigating and acting on the lines you have suggested, and I guess the crucial thing is how well this is done and managed - then we can even confidently proclaim that we need a 'bigger machine'. As for Priority Scheduler, we are on V2R4.1.3, and we have advice not to use it till we get on to V2R5. We shall also be looking at th MVC and PPI features then. I guess we have to make an informed judgment about applying any solution for any tables, and there are no magic bullets.
