Hi Martin,

One comment about disk based 'features' in this area. The reason that NCR do not support them is that these features don't take account of any data that is in the cache held on the Nodes, these features only work at the disk array/disk subsystem level. In order to have a chance of things like SRDF working you'll need to quiesce both Teradata systems before copying data across. Also this route is likely to copy much more data than is required, because the disk system software will not understand about Teradata data structures (spool files etc) and so will (must ?) copy the entire disk contents.

I've worked with one site who set up this capability a few years ago. they use permanent journals to roll forward from their main system to their standby system. That seems to work ok for them.

Cheers,

Dave
