Subj:   Reset query plans

From:   Singu, Bhupesh

I am running the same query many times (queries are executed serially for testing purposes) and logging the queries response times, cpu and IO. However, when I run the same query second time, thrid time and so forth, there is a significant decrease in response time, io and cpu. I am guessing, this is because of the caching (both data and query plan). Is there a way to reset or clean the data cache and the query plan cached in the system? In SQL Server, the commands are "DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS" and "DBCC FREEPROCCACHE". Is there a equivalent in Teradata?

thanks
