Subj:   SAMPLE syntax

From:   John Adams

Hi, folks,

I've got a small command-line utility that uses sampling to do certain tasks. The sampling is always by fraction, never by hard row count. The value of the sample is passed in from the command line.

There are occasions when the sampling needs to be the whole sample, and I'd like to be able to pass that in, but I don't see how. I've tried using SAMPLE 1.00, which is interpreted as asking for one row, and SAMPLE 1.00, 0, which appears not to see the 0.

Any ideas? SAMPLE .9999999999999999999999999 seems aesthetically unpleasant.

Thanks,

John A
