I would assume from your statement below, that you are using BTEQ. 254 is the limit for row length in BTEQ. Use Queryman/SQL Assistant with the
export feature, and you will be able to get a longer row length.
There are a few other ways I have had to use to get rows longer than 254, ie; multiple substring requests, access link tables, etc.
BTEQ is a good tool for quick queries, but Queryman/SQL Assistant is a much better tool.
