Subj:   Info: Compiling Stored Procedures on Teradata Demo

From:   Dieter Noeth

Hi all,

as you probably know MS Visual C++ is needed to compille SPs. I never found a way to use free compilers like Borland's for that purpose. But cl.exe is also included in Microsoft's .NET Framework SDK, which is freely available for download (~130MB including .NET Framework Redistributable).

If you use version 1.1 you'll just have to add 2 registry entries.

Exported keys from regedit:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1]
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
2003\\Common7\\IDE"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\Setup]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\Setup\VC]
"ProductDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\\Vc7\\"

For .NET Framework 1.0 it's probably similar, maybe

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.0]

Dieter
