If your network environment has a pair of DNS servers, you can certainly specify both of them in your TCP/IP configuration on MP-RAS. One of my customers does this and they do have 2 addresses in their /etc/resolv.conf file. You should used the tcpconfig script to configure TCP/IP on MP-RAS. The DNS stanza does give prompts to specify how many DNS servers you have. I recommend these two options:

tcpconfig -m -nostart

The -m option prompts for which stanzas you want to step through. Stanza 7 allows you to configure your DNS entries. The -nostart option tells tcpconfig NOT to restart TCP/IP at the end of your configuration process. NOTE: Teradata relies on TCP/IP for a some types of communication (not the main database traffic) so if TCP/IP is restarted while Teradata is up, your Teradata database will detect this and take a restart too. Generally I have seen people use the -nostart to make TCP/IP configuration changes which are picked up on the next reboot of their system.

If you need this entry in place without waiting for the next restart, consult with the GSC.

God Luck,

Jerry Heying
