Subj:   Teradata Error 2971

Could anyone shed any light on Teradata RDBMS Error 2971: "The AMP Lock table has overflowed."

We received this error today within our Teradata CRM logs. The nice manual explanation is "The lock table segment has overflowed", generated by "LokMangr", with a remedy of "wait until some transactions are finished, then resubmit the request."

What is the lock table segment? How can it overflow? Is this a function of number of system wide locks or concurrent locks on a specific table? Is there a parameter somewhere that affects this?

I greatly appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thank you.
