Subj:   Re: SQL Assistant 6.1 : Installation Problems On Windows 98

From:   Norm

I found something similar to your problem were the install fails with no return code nor error on a W2K client, (I had installed successfully on other W2K clients).

Here's what I did to get it to work, (recalling from some time ago): By default the install utility will run in 'silent mode', you don't want this now.

1. start install utility

2. select custom install

3. select TD SQL Assist

4. on next screen, UN select, (should show you TD SQL Assist now UN checked) this should now take you out of silent mode.

You'll then see the install execute, step by step.

What happened to me was that it could not find the 'SQLASSIST...MSI' (not sure of correct name) file.

I went to explorer, and searched for the file, (found under a different temp directory), and changed the path name in the install dialog. it worked fine.

Had a similar problem with Teradata Administrator.

hope this helps.
