Subj:   Re: From Lotus Notes DB to Teradata

From:   Jim Downey

Yvonne,

I know that our current Notes database is a proprietary format and that future releases will be relational.

I forwarded your question to a friend of mine who provided the following. I cannot add anything to his response, nor can I go back for additional detail. Hopefully, it will give you enough to go back to your Notes support group.

Moving data out of Notes databases to external relational data sources is limited and usually complicated. Basically, you can use DECS or notes pump which is a lotus server based technology that can "pump" notes data out to other sources. if you take this route, one must contact EC as they control the servers and the set up of this application. The other way is to get a developer to write a script using LS:DO (notes asp like scripting object) to move the data off the forms into an external database. Both would require a professional lotus developer.

There are other simple ways to get it into a spreadsheet, at least, and the into your database through other non lotus means.

Hopes this helps...

God Luck

Jim
