From what I understand you should be able to use NetBackup to backup Teradata databases from UNIX. Since all of the Teradata database plugins for backup solutions use the same access module and ARC utility they can be restored on any system, Windows or UNIX.

As for doing OS file backups, I don't think I would use a Windows server for that. I am not sure if Windows will backup symbolic links properly or when they transfer the data if it transfers them in binary or ASCII which could pose a problem when it comes time to restore. The only way to be sure if to run a small backup on a directory with different types of files and see how it restores.
