Subj:   Backup / Recovery strategies

Greetings,

I am looking for the strategies that TD gurus following to backup / restore the system ... like...

a. Do you have a dedicated window for your backup

b. Do you do a full back up of the entire system or an incremental backup?

c. If that is an incremental backup ,does TD have a switch to turn on this function or do you have to know a trick of a trade?

d. Is there a way to avoid backing up the secondary indices and just backup the data?

e. How do you ensure that a properly backed up tape is recoverable? and how frequently do you do that kind of test??

In short how to minimize the backup/restore time and maximize the data safety?

I would appreciate any help ...

Information about my current system: Has about one terabyte of data in 4 WNT nodes. Takes about 5 hours to backup.

Thanks
