Subj:   Large Table / Large Block loading performance

From:   Michael McIntire

Has anyone done any comparison on deep, wide table (2b+ rows, 500 byte rows) and large blocksize (130K) loading between MLoad and Fload/Ins-Sel? Suspect that Mload would touch every block in such a table, every night.

Looking for advice or actual comparisons of MLoad vs. Fload/Ins-Sel methodology - or other less write intrusive methods. Also for a comparison of what such an insert operation does block wise.

Yes, V2R5 Cylendar reads would help the scan rates, allowing for lower block sizes, but this is some time off.

If needed, please contact me off-list.
