Subj:   CLI Error 224

From:   Conley, Mary M (Shelly)

This error just started happening on an HP server. I don't know of anything that has changed. The entries are in the etc/hosts file. The users that access Teradata using Focus are able to connect. It only seems to be happening when we use bteq. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

$ bteq
Teradata BTEQ 06.01.00.02 for UNIX5. Enter your logon or BTEQ command:

.logon kkdb/corpdba
Password:

 *** CLI error: MTDP: EM_NOHOST(224): name not in HOSTS file or names database.
 *** Return code from CLI is: 224
 *** Error: Logon failed!

Explanation: The DBC/1012 name was not found in the workstation's
hosts file or names data base.

Remedy: Check the DBC/1012 name.

Thanks,

Shelly Conley
