Subj:   LOGON Problem????

From:   Tony Howe

When using BTEQ, FASTLOAD, FASTEXPORT or MULTILOAD utilities from a UNIX or WINDOWs server I get the following error:

Teradata BTEQ 06.01.00.00 for WIN32. Enter your logon or BTEQ command:
logon teramed4/dbadmin;
logon teramed4/dbadmin
Password:
*******
 *** CLI error: MTDP: EM_NOHOST(224): name not in HOSTS file or names
database.
 *** Return code from CLI is: 224
 *** Error: Logon failed!

 *** Total elapsed time was 13 seconds.

TERAMED4 is not in my HOST file on my PC, but resides on our companys DNS (Domain Name Server). Why don't these utilities pick up the TCP/IP address from DNS. I doesn't have a problem picking up TERA1 from our DNS even though this isn't in my HOSTs file either.

I saw where there once was a problem with HOSTs name more than 7 characters not working correctly????

Any ides??
