Mark,

Why do you want to parse the SQL? Do you just want to see if it will run? Or are you trying to pre-parse it to make it run faster?

If you just want to test it, try putting an explain in front of it. Teradata will reject it if it is invalid, or if it is valid it will give you an explanation of how it will be processed.
