Hi,

TLE is meant to CAPTURE the PRODUCTION environment from the 'BIG' box your query runs in and WRAP it up into a nice little bundle.

You can take that bundle over to another 'SMALLER' box and unwrap it so you can then run EXPLAINS against the smaller box and the optimizer will give you answers like you would get on your "BIG" box.

This takes load of your production system as you use the smaller box to tune your query or see what making minor changes the WHERE clauses or seeing the EXPLAINS of new queries against those tables will behave.

You only enable TLE on the 'SMALLER' BOX where you do the UNWRAPPING.

There is no need to turn on TLE on the 'BIG' box to do the WRAPPING.

Now I use the TERM "BIG" and "SMALL" and you can decide what those mean, but I typically use a 2 AMP system on my LAPTOP to do the TLE unwrapping.

I can make the optimizer on that 2 AMP system think it is running on a 400 amp 50 node system using TLE.
