Subj:   Re: Copying and Pasting between MS Outlook and Queryman 6.0

From:   Lawrence, Pepper

It is caused by the fact that Queryman 6 uses a Rich Text control instead of a simple textbox.

When you paste something into the Query window it is handled automatically by the control .... and unfortunately it tries to be helpful by inserting the 'best available' data.

This means that if the app you copied from stores RTFText in the clipboard that is what will get inserted ... not the plain old text. (If you double click on the icon that was pasted in from Excel for example it would open up a copy of Excel for you to edit.)

Excel doesn't allow drag however so you would have to paste it into Notepad (or something that only understands plain text) then copy it from there to the clipboard before pasting it into Queryman.

This is fixed in Queryman 6.1 by overriding the paste operation and inserting only plain text.

Also added is a 'Reset Query' menu to get rid of unwanted formatting. (Such as the 'protected' text you get from Outlook.)

This version of Queryman, now called Teradata SQL Assistant, will be available by December 20th, 2002 which is part of TTU7.0
