John,

Good story. I've known Ralph for a number of years and I was also surprised by the characterization that he was strident or evangelizing. I wouldn't go so far to say that he is Mother Theresa, but I've never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I've detected more than a little sarcasm in his offline writing, but what bright person isn't sarcastic in this screwy business?

However, the minions. Oh boy. But it's the same with Inmon, in my experience, even more so. I've been taken to the woodshed on many occasions by the Followers of Bill, some of whom are my friends. But lets think about religious leaders throughout history, isn't this always the case?

I wonder about these comments about Ralph's writing style. I get this criticism too, but in my case, I think it's deserved - I really am sarcastic and polarizing! When I read something Ralph's written, I get none of that. It just feels like well-informed advice. Is it just because you don't want to hear what he's saying, or am I missing something? I think I understand that. Many years ago, I used to battle with Ralph about all of this, and I thought what he was saying was wrong. But the tone was never strident.
