Robert,

I will send to an email offline to catch-up, but I wanted share my encounter with Mr. Kimball. About two years ago, I got Mr. Kimball's phone number. I call and a woman answers the phone (she turns out to be his wife). She informs me that Ralph is taking a nap and she goes to wake him up! (I think she was secretly looking for an excuse to wake him and get him on his chores.)

I think to myself, "This can't be good". After a few minutes, a groggy, Mr. Kimball picks up the phone. I introduce myself and we start talking.

We ended up talking for quite a while, about Metaphor, Red Brick, Teradata, NCR, TeraCube, VCs, and data modeling. He was a real nice guy and very interesting to talk to. He was also very open minded about new or different ideas. He was not at all "evangelical", nor was he "strident or polarizing" (although I agree with you about his writing style) and he had every right to be terse with me. I find the stark contrast between Mr. Kimball and his minions to be amusing.

And if I achieve no other successes, I can say, "I woke the father of Dimensional Modeling up from his afternoon nap!"
