David,

You've clearly stated the case of Teradata and what you believe. However, not everyone in the industry accepts this point of view. It would appear that your premise is that 3NF provides "more performant data loading" while you allude to, but do not state, that other designs are superior for query performance. First of all, I do not accept the notion that these 3NF schema are more performant for ETL, and secondly, when you factor in the significant amount of time it takes to populate the data marts, I wouldn't call the whole structure very performant at all.
