Subj:   Re: Network submitted utilities

From:   John Hall

For-MVS submitted jobs, this information can already be found in columns 49 thru 56 of column LOGONSOURCE (table DBC.EVENTLOG). With some exceptions, you can identify an MVS job because the first eight characters of LOGONSOURCE = 'MVS'.

Instead of adding a new column to DBC.EVENTLOG, it would be nice if NCR just made their implementation more consistent with what's already been done. Column LOGONSOURCE has been around since early Version 1 (for at least 10 years) and long before any of the network utilities were available. Those network utilities already populate LOGONSOURCE with information, why would it be so difficult to identity the utility?
