It depend on what you are doing:

I did both:

execute bteq via system or exec calls

or

use the DBI:ODBC module

If you only read small amounts of data the DBI module (have a look on the CPAN module list) works really fine but it causes some problems in case of larger amounts of data. In this case I usually use an bteq export into a file an read the file afterwards.
