Subj:   Linked Server from SQL Server to Teradata

From:   Mike Lynch

We are trying to link server using SQL Server and are getting error messages when we try to query with SQL Query Analyzer

We are trying the query in the format:

Select * from servername..databasename.tablename

The ".." is to leave a place for catalogname.

The error we receive is:

Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' reported an error.
OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: OLE DB provider MSDASQL returned
an incorrect value for DBPROP_CATALOGLOCATION which should be either
DBPROPVAL_CL_END or DBPROPVAL_CL_START].
OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: OLE DB provider MSDASQL returned
an incorrect value for DBPROP_CONCATNULLBEHAVIOR which should be either
DBPROPVAL_CB_NULL or DBPROPVAL_CB_NON_NULL].
[OLE/DB provider returned message: Unspecified error]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSDASQL' IDBSchemaRowset::GetRowset
returned 0x80004005: ].

Can you give any guidelines as to how you linked server and how you query the server?
