Subj:   Re: TPUMP-Multiple table insert/update

From:   Heard, Duncan

Further to the last point I would ALWAYS prebuild macros where you have the following:

* More than one TPUMP job tends to start in the space of 30 secs.

* Many DML statements in a single TPUMP job

* Lots of DDL going on when the TPUMP jobs tend to be started

Note: If you have many different DML statements you can sometimes get considerable performance gains from splitting them up into multiple parallel TPUMP jobs running across the same file - BUT PREBUILD THOSE MACROS (or pay the price)! This technique can also be used to split out upserts to allow a higher packrate (i.e. > 1) for all the other non-upsert DML within the job.

Regards,

Duncan
