We have experienced this symptom and the reason in our case is clearly the behaviour of the new optimizer. The new optimizer is more
dependant on the quality of the statistics. We have compared explains and execution times for the same query with and without statistics
(specially on intermediate tables inside large bteqs) and the result is VERY different (from hours to minutes).
We have added 'collect statistics' in our bteqs for intermediate tables and our execution times are much better now, compared with the
best times we had with the previous release of Teradata.
