Subj:   Re: Microsoft-Access and Teradata

From:   Diane Platt

Hi All,

I am an IMS Development Team Leader of a large supermarket chain in New Zealand.

We have recently had a project approved to have NCR implement a Teradata Warehouse.

The project is planned to start in approx. 2 months time. In the meantime I would like to prepare myself and the team who will be the DBAs responsible for the DW and the Microstrategy Server. We also will need to develop satellite programs and databases in Access/SQL Server to link with Teradata.

Can anyone suggest some good Teradata books that will take us through the beginner level and on to advanced

Some titles I found over the Internet were:-

"Teradata SQL - Unleash the Power" by Tom Coffing, Mike Larkins

"Tera-Tom on Teradata" by Tom Coffing, Morgan Jones

"Building and Managing the Teradata Repository - A full Life Cycle Guide" by David Marco

"The Data Warehouse Life Cycle Toolkit : Expert Methods for Designing Developing and Deploying" by Ralph Kimball

"The Data Warehouse Toolkit: The Complete Guide to Dimensional Modelling " by Raplh Kimball , Margy Ross

Can anyone recommend any of these or others. Something like "Teradata for Dummies" would be a good start if it existed!

Thanks Diane
