Hi Clay:

Teradata will only use an index during the process of reading rows. It only uses an index for a join when it is a nested join. All other joins normally involve one or more SPOOL files and primarily uses a merge join.

So, as far as the actual join processing goes from SPOOL, Teradata never uses an index.
