NCR manual says this about migration from V2R2 to V2R4.0.1

To upgrade from V2R2.1 to V2R4.0.1 is a four-stage process:

1 Upgrade from V2R2.1.x to V2R3.0

2 Upgrade from V2R3.0 to V2R3.0.3.

3 Verify the Databases and User Data

4 Upgrade from V2R3.0.3 to V2R4.0.1

I would like to know can we directly migrate to V2R3.0.3 from V2R2? What is the reason for this four step process?

Also if we migrate the dictionary information after changing the reserved words, etc. to V2R3 and then V2R4. Now can we directly migrate data from V2R2 to V2R4.
