Subj:   Re: Using SAN with Teradata

From:   Eric J. Kohut

There are some really good reasons for this.

Teradata is very demanding on the I/O subsystem. We often see 50 - 100 of megabytes sustained I/O per second per node. We have not found a SAN that can support this level of I/O throughput in a scalable manner. A SAN might work for very small configurations and we are constantly looking for other I/O subsystem options.

Thanks,

Eric
