Subj:   Timestamp data type

From:   Mike Philips

Hi there

I'v been confused by timestamp data types vs literals vs intervals, and am trying to get a full understanding of this.

I've had difficulty creating a (test) table with a column as a tempstamp data type. I eventually took a copy of the DDL of the DBC.TVM table (which has at least the column CreateTimeStamp as TIMESTAMP(0)), and after changing only the database and table name, created a look- alike. The resulting table looked like my earlier attempts; it makes the column a CHAR(23) !! Maybe there's something wrong with my setup...

My setup in this test case is:

  Teradata: V2R.04.00.02.01 (on NT)
Version 04.00.02.00 - (these given in view DBCInfo)
  QueryMan: 5.1.0
  ODBC: 2.09.00.00

Many thanks in advance!
