Subj:   Re: ORACLE to Teradata Fastload

From:   Tony Howe

We did a ORACLE to Teradata load process using a "free" tool from Teradata call ORA2TD. This tool will generate an UNLOAD from Oracle and a matching FASTLOAD to Teradata. We used "named pipes" to do the data transfer because we didn't have a "landing area" on either server to hold all the data. This works rather well on tables smaller than 50 GB. On larger ones we were able to split up the process into four separate FASTLOADs, leaving the END LOADING off until the last FASTLOAD was done. In all we loaded 300GB of Oracle data to Teradata in three days.

Thanks, Tony.
