I think you'll find that this is an attribute of the Data Source. try the following:

-- choose Tools / Define Data Source from the menu bar (or start the ODBC administrator)

-- select the data source in question and click the Configure button

-- click the Options button

-- make sure "Use Column Names" is checked.
