The statement "but starts to take a longer time when there is a history of several days" in the original post needs quantifying before any of the suggested solutions are explored. It's a dangerous assumption that there is a problem here. This can't be concluded until we know the exact increase in run time that is experienced as the table grows.

If the workload:performance relationship is a linear or near-linear then there is no problem. Surely that's the first thing to be established?
