From:   Tom Slavinsky

Tru64 is Compaq's Unix, who recently announced it would port the OS to IA64. As you know, HP and Compaq are discussing a merger. If the merger occurs, it's unlikely the combined company would have two IA64-bit Unix offers. A likely scenario is HP-UX would win out and incorporate some of Tru64's capabilities. No official announcements on this yet however.

IBM has dropped immediate plans for AIX 5L (formerly called Project Monterrey) on IA64, instead offering it on their RS6000 server line. Not an option.

Linux indeed is an interesting discussion/debate, comparable in some circles to religion and/or politics. I'll just say that as/when Linux matures and proves itself in the Enterprise space (specifically for business critical apps such as Data Warehousing), Teradata will certainly incorporate it in the roadmaps. You'll see Linux support much sooner from the Client side.
