Subj:   Re: Number of ACTIVE users

From:   Mary Lou Arundell

To All,

This has been a great thread for me, and thank you to those posting experience and knowledge, and to Ruth for getting it started.

Thomas Stanek asked, "I think it would be helpful to get a better understanding of what it is you are trying to determine. With more details, maybe someone on the list could provide an approach that might meet your needs."

We are upgrading to BI/Broker from Hummingbird and we had to decide how many concurrent ports to purchase. So we had to have an idea of how many concurrent active users we have now. That's one specific objective.

In general, we monitor spool usage, number of logons, we also run "canary" queries, among other things. The number of concurrent active users seems like another important measure for performance and planning.

Thanks to all who are posing solutions and food for thought.
