Hi Amer,

Most sites that I work with clean the data as part of the etl process. As part of moving the data from the source systems (in your case the oltp systems) into the dwh the data gets cleaned. This may be done using a tool or it may be done using standard sql - and often it's a combination of the two.

Where dirty data is recognised, a lot of sites will go back and clean the source systems - maybe changing the data entry screens/forms to correctly validate and format the data.

Ultimately it is down to the individual site or application etc etc to decide where this process is done, I don't think there is a 'correct' answer.
