Subj:   Re: Teradata ODBC and SQL Server (part 2)

From:   Gary Brown

For your info - should anyone come across TD connectivity issues for MS SQL 7 (sp2)users...

The problem was with the DTS wizard within MS SQL Server. This Data Transformation Services tool uses two methods to connect to a database:

1. For simple data import/export/select, you use a wizard that prompts for connection details (ODBC driver, DSN, username, pwd, etc.), OR

2. For above features plus mail messaging, scripting, etc. you use the DTS Designer utility and provide much the same connection details along with some other specifics

Option 1 (the wizard) fails to connect via the Teradata ODBC driver, but can connect to other ODBC compliant databases. Option 2 (the DTS Designer manual method) is successful!

Apparently, sp3 is out now and it has a number of fixes to the DTS. Perhaps this problem will be resolved.
