Subj:   Re: Linux and Teradata

From:   Tan Nguyen

Hello Charles and all,

NCR/Teradata has been and will continue to investigate the possibility of supporting ODBC on Linux from a PC or Server clients. There are technical issues such as the availability of the ODBC SDK on Linux and Linux support of XTI, for example, that will need to be addressed and resolved first.

Please note that for performance reasons, NCR does not plan to support ODBC access to Teradata from mainframes. NCR currently offers a high-performance, tightly integrated solution to mainframe via the ESCON Channel Connect.

NCR will continue to evaluate the different variations of Linux based on our customers' and applications' needs. Please provide feedback on the type of Linux that is desired (i.e., Red Hat, Penguin, etc.). The information will help us with our Linux offering and support directions.

Thank you and regards.
