Subj:   Unique Row Id

From:   Joan Robertson

Is it possible to access the row id in a select statement? We are trying to generate a unique value for each row of the table. I believe you can access the row id in other databases, but not sure how to do this in Teradata.

We have been able to generate this number using the csum function, however, this creates hot amps and needs large amounts of spool space to run. The table we want to generate a unique value for is approx 1 billion rows.

Thanks for any help.
