Besides the valuable contributions today on management of heavy rollbacks furnished by Thomas, and considering his statement below, I just wanted to inform those of you who are not aware of this possibility, that the NCR Teradata GSC Global Support Center in San Diego is able to dial in into your Teradata system and effectively cancel a rollback in progress. Of course their procedure involves all the drawbacks described in previous messages for this thread, mainly all tables affected by rollback must be dropped and then restored/recreated, etc, but at least they may help to alleviate a serious crisis, until the functionality is implemented in a future release.
