Julie,

PMON is more like WinDDI rather than qrysessn, but it is also quite different.

PMON uses a 'standard' api - specifically it uses the pm/pc api (WinDDi uses ODBC) but qrysessn uses the 'console' interface which is not documented for users, it is only available (as far as I'm aware) to NCR utilities.

PMON is part of the Teradata manager application and will track machine usage and individual user's usage for their current session. It can also log information to your pc for later display.

In terms of the MONITOR privileges, having granted them for the userid that's running PMON, you don't have to do anything more than that. The PMON application will issue the necessary MONITOR commands (see the Performance Monitor Reference manual) to retrieve the information it is then going to display to you. You can run PMON against TNT 3.x (not 2.x) because this release of TNT contains the pm&pc component within the DBMS itself.

Does that help?

Cheers,

Dave
