Subj:   Call for alpha testers: DBD::Teradata

From:   Dean Arnold

Well, its nearly complete...a 100% pure Perl DBI driver for Teradata. I've still got a few datatypes to test, but should be ready for alpha testing by the end of the 7/1/00.

So...

If there's anyone out there that might have a use for a Perl DBI driver that doesn't require an ODBC or CLI library, (esp. if you've got some platform other than Wintel), drop me a note.

For details, see

www.home.earthlink.net...

I'll try to update the web page weekly with bug fixes, enhancement news, etc.

To be considered for the alpha release, send me a note that indicates:

1) who you are

2) what platform you intend to run it on (both h/w and OS)

3) some general idea what you want to use it for (e.g., CGIs, ETL, prototyping, ad hoc queries, etc.)

While I'd like some idea what you intend to use the driver for, PLEASE don't tell me anything that would require a non-disclosure agreement.

I expect to limit the alpha to 10 or fewer sites, since I don't have enough spare cycles to deal with more than that.

Also, if anyone has a non-DBI standard feature they'd like to see added to the driver, let me know. Right now, I'm hoping to add nonblocking execute() support (ala CLI's DBCHWAT) for bulkload type operations, and then a fastload and/or fastexport interface.

Regards,

Dean Arnold
