Subj:   Script Manager For Teradata (SMT)

From:   John HR Schuster

Hello

My name is John Schuster. I have been involved with Teradata for the last 7 years. I am currently a member of the Partners steering committee.

Recently I was involved in a State Justice system Teradata project and I developed a utility called "Script Manager for Teradata" It is a PC utility that uses WinCLI (CLI) and the PC version of BTEQ or FastLoad. It is a front end to these limited NCR tools that provides the user with a Editor and database to store both BTEQ and FastLoad scripts in.

There is a security front end to allow you to direct the script to one of multiple systems. The script is run and all the output including errors is kept in a simple text file that can automatically be viewed or printed when the script has completed. An alarm lets you know when long running scripts have completed.

I have also added features like user parameters that you can include in your scripts and then just be running the script change the values plugged into the script.

The team used this utility to create over 250 BTEQ and FastLoad scripts and manage them. It cut weeks off of our prototype efforts. It moves BETQ a step closer to the PC.

I want to distribute this utility to any Teradata user as CodeWare: If you want the complete utility, nothing disabled, with no nagging messages it would be free, if you want the Visual Basic code for the utility you can purchase this.

In order to do this I need to know how interested people might be, considering it uses WinCli and BTEQ for PC there may only be a limited group of folks. Also before I release it I would have to put together a help file and I only want to do this if there is a need for it.

Any feedback is appreciated.
